Words That Will Make You Want To Explore

I often find myself at a loss for words to describe an emotion. I am far from a linguist and wish I could speak multiple languages but I do love finding words (in other languages or in English) that express a feeling better than I could ever do myself. Here are a few of my favorites and I would love to hear yours in the comments.

Greek: Someone with a deep sensitivity to the beauty of art or nature

Japanese: Sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees

Old English: To wander longingly through the forest in search of mystery

German: An ache for distant places

Greek: The sound of the wind through the trees

Greek: The smell of earth after rain

Welsh: A place where a person or an animal feels it ought to live and belong; it is where nature around you feels right and welcoming

Irish: The relationship one has with the land, the air, the water; a deep connection that makes you one with nature

Japanese: A visit to the forest for relaxation. Literally: Forest Bathing

Icelandic: “window-weather” as in, the kind of weather that’s nice to look at, but not experience.
